Grounded

I read once that if you think of the soles of your feet, it will help you stay in the present moment. It can help you calm down in an argument or help you stay in perspective. I have tried to remember this these days lately. When I am on my mat, the moment I visualize the soles of my feet, the moment I can feel each toe, every surface of skin on the base of my foot, every space between each toe. . . my mind draws deeper within. The car that cut me off is a non-issue, the frustration from work becomes a non-issue, the stress of the holidays and the bills again, non-issue. I am trying to use this mind set off the mat as well. It is harder, when there are distractions in life, they detour the enjoyment of the moment sometimes, but if we can all stop, feel the space between our toes, feel the surface of the skin on the base of our feet, feel the pressure in the perimeter of our feet, we can bring ourselves to the present moment. We can come into Now and allow the distractions to become non-issues.
